A Christmas special: Scout Scar

That there is a line closure between Hebden Bridge and Burnley at the moment is not encouraging me to go on walks. I would need to get up at 5.15 on most days and it’s been busy at work, forgive me.

However, being at the in-laws’ in Morecambe this Christmas has enabled me to bypass that blockage and so gave me the chance to use Christmas Eve to get a couple more Outyling Fells in during 2013. Thanks to dubious weather forecasts I took what is, for me, probably the easiest single public transport journey in the whole Lake District and walked from Kendal. Great views today, as I hope these photos make clear, and this was the longest walk I’ve managed anywhere since August so much-needed exercise. I have now done 234 of the full list of 330 Wainwrights, thus have 96 to go.
